Strong winds and heavy rain downed trees and ripped roofs from buildings in parts of the UK worst affected by Storm Darragh on Saturday.

Some areas were battered by gusts of up to 93mph, causing significant disruption in south Wales, western England and Northern Ireland, with many train services, ferries and flights cancelled.

A rare red Met Office warning for parts of Wales and south-west England ended at 11:00GMT on Saturday, but amber warnings for further wind and rain remained in place through to Saturday evening.
