Chloe Ferris died in Lux nightclub in the early hours of Sunday

Two men in their 20s have been arrested on suspicion of drug-related offences following the death of a woman at a Belfast nightclub.

Chloe Ferris, who was in her 20s, died at the Lux nightclub in the city centre in the early hours of Sunday.

The emergency services were called to the club after reports that two women had fallen unconscious. Ms Ferris had died by the time police had arrived.

The two men have since been released on police bail.

The other woman who lost consciousness in the nightclub was taken to hospital.

It is understood the woman has now been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home.

A death notice for Ms Ferris described her as a “beloved daughter” and “much loved” sister aunt, niece, and cousin.

Her father Declan did not want to do an interview but told BBC News NI that he wanted to thank everyone who had offered support and reached out to the family since her death.

‘Her peers looked up to her’

On Tuesday, Thomas Turley, a youth worker from R City, described Ms Ferris as a “great character”.

She was a member of the organisation when she was a teenager and Mr Turley said she “brought a lot to the group”.

“You could tell from the outset that she was a leader in and amongst the group and how much her peers looked up to her,” he told BBC News NI.

“She had great drive and enthusiasm about her and that was something that always shone through along with how bubbly she was and how fun she was to have about.”

Mr Turley said the group was thankful to have someone like Ms Ferris involved in the programme and she left a legacy with the people there.

“The outpouring on social media just shows how much of an impact Chloe made right across the community and everyone she came into contact with,” he said.
